MODELS

High-quality materials for model-making projects in the entertainment sector

TV & COMMERCIAL

Foams allow for the creation of props, like fake food, for commercials and lower budget productions while still providing realistic effects which won’t ruin under studio lighting.

FILM & THEATRE

Casting materials are used across film and theatre for stunt safe prop making, prosthetics, futuristic set designs and backdrops, lightweight armour, and horror/gore effects.

STOP MOTION & ANIMATION

Many puppet skins, animatronics, and creature models are made using polyurethane materials for lifelike yet lightweight and movable characters.

ATTRACTIONS

BJB foams and polyurethanes can be used for models, displays, and architectural pieces for theme parks, haunted houses, museums, model villages and other attractions.

ENTERTAINMENT APPLICATIONS

PROP MAKING

Prop making and fabrication utilise polyurethanes and foam to create safe but realistic looking pieces for film, theatre, tv and more. Examples include body parts and bones for zombie films and horror genre, futuristic technology for sci-fi films, and safe medieval swords for historical recreations. They are also used to create elements like furniture which will float and be waterproof or fire resistant to match the set.

Prop applications include fake food, gemstones, weapons, body parts, bones, and furniture.

COSTUME DESIGNS

For costume design, armour can be crafted to be lightweight with metallic finishes to give the illusion of metal or chain with none of the weight. Head pieces like crowns and helmets can also be made light weight, with realistic fake gems or dirt effects and be easy to remove.

Costume applications include superhero suits, cosplay, helmets, armour, historical clothing, padding, monster anatomy like claws and horns, and prosthetics for wrinkles or fantasy features.

MODELS

Some miniature models are made to replicate a landmark, like a bridge, which can then be destroyed on film and combined with VFX to look real. Other types of models include puppets used for stop motion or animation productions, or waterproof marine animals with lifelike skin texture.

Models include concept maquettes, armatures, taxidermy, creature anatomy, miniatures of sets or characters, puppets, and animatronics for films and theme parks.

SPECIAL EFFECTS

A sprayable version of BJB’s water clear urethane has been used for ice effects to create the illusion of freezing temperatures and icicles. Skin replication materials allow for the creation of prosthetics to alter an actor’s appearance, age, or create monster features.

Some special effect applications include prosthetics, skin replication for aging effects and wounds, and ice and weather illusions.

SAFETY

Using foam for prop and set creation allows for improved safety on set. Weapons can be crafted from soft, squishy materials to not cause harm, while terrain like boulders, can be made lighter and softer for easier transportation and actor safety.

BJB materials can also be used to create padded sets, fire resistant sets/props, and stunt dummies.

SETS

Sets and backdrops need to be realistic, durable and safe. Using BJB materials allows for padded, soft set pieces which can be carved and painted to the desired finish, whether futuristic spacecrafts or a Tudor England castle. Theme Park sets like rockwork and architecture can also be carved out of foam to look like concrete, stone, and wood, but are safer for the public.

Set pieces can include terrain elements like rocks, buildings, doors and archways padded panels, furniture, and spray effects to add dirt or ice.
